Health In Groups at TEDx Dundee

On 23rd May 2015, Dundee held its first TEDx event at the University of Dundee, entitled 'Making a Difference'. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design, and is a global series of not-for-profit conferences intended to spread great ideas. TEDx events are independent conferences organized by the community in question, who obtain a license to put on the event.

Health in Groups played an important role in TEDx Dundee. Dundee University PhD. student Kirsty Miller gave a talk on the Social Cure, which included a discussion of key results from the Health in Groups project. Furthermore, Kirsty Miller, University of Queensland PhD. student Tamara Butler, and Dundee University Post-Doctoral Researcher Juliet Wakefield held a Health in Groups interactive exhibit during the lunch and coffee breaks. This exhibit involved audience members mapping their social worlds by graphically depicting the groups they belong to and the connections between these groups. This exercise encourages people to think about how they might enhance their social world by joining new groups or by reconnecting with old ones.

The day was a great success, as can be seen in the images below.
